2021 Interior Trends: My Top 5

Interior trends.. now that’s a tricky subject! With trends, comes the pressure your space is outdated and needs changing, but as designers we strive to create design schemes that are timeless and stand the test of time for our clients…

Earthy Colour Palettes

We saw the gradual slide from cooler greys to warmer tones through 2020 and with Dulux naming Brave Ground as their colour of the year for 2021, I think this trend is set to continue as we strive to bring calm and stability back into our homes.

Natural Materials

As the design industry is becoming more conscious how our actions affect the environment, the push for greener, more sustainable materials will continue to become more prominent, leading to a focus on natural materials such as linen, wools and woods and we’ll see more rattan and woven styles featured.

Comfier Choices

This is more time than we have ever spent in our homes, so the desire for comfy practical spaces has never been so high; instead of formal karate chopped cushions, think oversized soft squishy ones, partnered with sumptuous throw blankets.

Indoor Planting & Preserved Greenery

This trend has grown and grown over the last few years and I don’t see it stopping yet! Introducing plants and preserved greenery to your home enables you to bring the outside in, whilst bringing a sense of calm and tranquillity to the space.

Smart Storage

With the need for flexible spaces, many of us are finding our living rooms become offices during the day, yoga studios at lunch and board game spots in the evening, so we need smarter storage solutions to keep our homes tidy.  Whether it’s a pair of wicker baskets tucked on a shelf, a woven blanket box or a perfectly organised pantry, I think we’ll see more and more options through 2021.
