My Favourite Non-Toxic, Toddler Friendly Houseplants

The moment Nyla began crawling, I panic replaced all my plants with artificial ones from our show home accessories store room. This plastic jungle, just didn’t bring me quite the same joy as having real plants, so I recently went on a Google mission to find beautiful, non-toxic, easy to care for plants, that would thrive in North London - a simple enough brief, right? It turns out there are actually some stunning, toddler friendly options, so here are my favourites:

Just to note, there are plenty out there that are minimally toxic, but with Nyla partial for a little leaf nibble, I didn’t want to take the risk, so went for plants that are non toxic to humans. (Although it still baffles me that serving a green bean causes outrage, yet every leaf on the park floor looks delicious…)

I’ve had our collection from Beards & Daisies for two months now and they seem to be happy in their home!

As an additional tip, for location, think about tucking your plants behind furniture or a blanket basket to make them slightly harder to reach. Metal, fabric or wicker planters can be great non-breakable alternatives to ceramic pots.

We’ve had great fun looking after our plants together, and involving your little one in their weekly water spritzing routine can be a wonderful way to in still a love for plants from a young age.
