Project In Focus: Hackney

This weeks project in focus is our recently completed Hackney apartment, we hope you enjoy the tour!

The apartment is located in a new development situated on a former warehouse site overlooking the River Lea and Hackney Marshes, giving it a unique urban feel with stunning country views. In keeping with it’s industrial heritage, the architectural detailing features brickwork, zinc cladding and dark aluminium windows, so we knew our interior design had to find a way to reflect this earthy yet modern setting.

The trickiest part of working with a new build is bringing that white box to life! We start by finding a layout that maximises the space - in an apartment filled with boxing out and angles, we had our work cut out for us.

Next comes the organised chaos! Where possible, we always try and work to a two day install instead of pieces being delivered as and when they are ready. We find this makes the process easier for both us and the client, and enables us to create the ‘wow’ moment reveal when they see the finished project.

Our furniture concept incorporated off white linens and ivory weaves, contrasted against dark timber details to give a modern edge. We then layered accessories to pull in additional colours and textures. Rusty tones and shades of green were used throughout the apartment to reflect the surrounding brickwork and marshes.

We aligned the rug, sofa and cabinetry with the diagonal wall and introduced a reading chair and side table to make use of the remaining space and distract the eye from the furniture not being centred on the room.

Brass and mahogany table lamps were paired with black walnut bedsides to create a modern eclectic modern look. These were then dressed with a bubble vase and wispy greenery to tie in the country setting.

As this apartment was all about texture, we’re finishing our tour with a couple of our favourite detail shots!
