How To Introduce Colour

Introducing colour may seem a little daunting at first, so we’ve put together a couple of ideas for helping you incorporate new shades into your home. It doesn’t have to be scary – we promise!

Statement Piece

Introduce a feature sofa or pair of armchairs to inject a pop of colour to your space. We used this gorgeous forest green sofa in our Crystal Palace Apartment; the ribbed velvet fabric adds textured warmth, softening the overall feel of the room.

Feature Artwork

Add a splash of colour with some abstract artwork. Your chosen piece could also be the source of inspiration for the rest of your room décor, making for a cohesive design.

The Luana Asiata pair below were the starting point for the colour scheme at our Aldgate project. We then layered accessories and soft furnishings to develop the scheme.

Bright Blooms

Bring in a burst of colour with some flowers, perfectly placed on your dining table, mantlepiece or sideboard. We love the natural dried Manhattan Bouquet from Shida Preserved Flowers, designed for slow living (buying more consciously and less frequently). And the best part is you can get a few different coloured bunches and swap them out as the seasons change.

From Cushions to Cookbooks; Accessorise!

Books, cushions, and candles are all fantastic ways to incorporate more colour into your home without too much commitment. Starting out with smaller snippets of colour is particularly good if you’re just dipping your toe in the (colourful) water. Just like your flowers, you can easily switch your accessories to suit each season.

Work from the Ground Up

Lay down a large feature area rug as your statement piece, then draw on these colours to layer the room with cushions and accessories in complimentary colours.

Throw on the Colour

Draping blankets or throws over the arm of sofas makes for a cosier use of colour and is a super easy way to weave some texture into your space too.

Coloured Concrete

Create a charismatic kitchen or bathroom by adding a pop of coloured concrete. We recently incorporate a concrete basin in this magnificent mustard shade for our Queen’s Park project, keep an eye on our Instagram to see the finished space soon!

Wallpaper

A guest WC is the perfect opportunity to surprise your guests with your creative flair. We’ve picked out the yellows from this fun Milton & King wallpaper and paired it with the mustard basin for a quirky and colourful downstairs loo.
